Luka got into the trash and scarfed down a piece of corn on the cob, we caught him with it but he swallowed it pretty much whole. Should I be worried?

You'll probably will want to take him to the vet to check for a blockage as cobs don't digest well and being that he ate it almost whole. Hoping it won't be that though! ((((((hugs)))))

The emergency vet I saw Friday was actually telling me that corn on the cob is one of the worst things they can get a hold of. She said this time of year it's the most frequent cause of blockages they see.

I've heard of that too...not good. The whole cob or just a piece? You probably want to bring Lukka in

My boys have eaten corn cobs after chewing them up (not whole), with no bad results.

If he ate it whole this is about the worst thing they can eat. I hope it passes safely. If it wasn't dry, that's better--those dry pointy ones are horrible. First sign of vomiting he has to go to the vet. Those very quickly get very very bad.

We did find a pretty good chunk right after he swallowed so it wasn't totally whole, I just don't know if the chunk he had in his mouth was chewed up. It wasn't dry so hopefully that's helpful. So far, he's fine. I'll be on poop patrol till I see it and keep watching for now.

When Banshee ate a whole corn cob we took her in to our, and he sent us home with some digestive enzyme stuff to help break it down somewhat, and had her on rice alone until it passed - which it did within a couple of days. She was not a happy pooper when it passed. At least she didn't need surgery!
Our first clue that she wasn't well, she did not want her dinner and she looked/acted like she had a tummy ache.
Good luck, it doesn't sound like Luka swallowed the whole thing like my girl did! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I hope all is good but sounds like he is doing ok.
It's amazing how Mals are so smart but they tend to eat the most dangerous stuff!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)
That is their only downfall tho (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
